Numeracy Yearly Plan – Junior & Senior Infants Autism Class
This resource provides a full year of structured numeracy planning tailored for an infant-level autism class. Organised month-by-month, the plan links to maths strands and strand units in a way that is clear, accessible, and developmentally appropriate, making maths learning engaging and consistent.

The plan is designed to:

  • Support Junior & Senior Infant pupils working at a range of numeracy levels.

  • Provide theme-based numeracy activities that integrate with classroom topics for meaningful learning.

  • Cover key areas such as early number, pattern, shape & space, measures, and data.

  • Offer hands-on, sensory-friendly, and visual approaches to make maths accessible for all learners.

  • Plan for children who require curriculum access support, including minimally speaking children and AAC users, embedding communication opportunities within maths activities.

  • Save teachers time with a ready-to-use framework aligned with the Irish Primary Maths Curriculum, while allowing flexibility for child-led exploration.

This yearly numeracy plan ensures maths learning is inclusive, structured, and practical, helping every child to engage, explore, and build core numeracy skills at their own pace.
